This infection prevention and control training is suitable for all members of the dental team, particularly benefit dental assistants and admin staff who have not undertaken a recent infection control course.

Course Overview
In this course we will look at the minimum requirements of infection prevention and control and why they are required plus we will consider where these can fail and the consequences of these failures. We will also cover how to maximise efficiency for infection prevention workflows to minimise the impact for practices from a productivity perspective and financial aspects. The course is aligned with the requirements of the Australian Dental Association (ADA) Guidelines for Infection Prevention and Control.
In this course we will also look at reprocessing requirements and the steps to achieving sterilisation. Cleaning is a crucial step for achieving sterilisation. The tasks undertaken in the reprocessing area contribute significantly to overall compliance and sterilisation outcomes. The purpose of this course is to provide learners with the knowledge required to recognise inefficiencies in the reprocessing and sterilisation area. This also includes strategies to assist learners identify and improve workflows along with tasks that monitor and record sterilisation compliance requirements.

- Understand what is infection prevention and controls
- Gain an overview of micro-organisms and methods of transmission – the ‘why’ of what we do
- Understand Standard Precautions and each component of these together with their role in breaking the infectious cycle
- Understanding clinical zones and Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) requirements
- ISurgical Procedures and Aseptic Technique
- Understanding requirement of Environment cleaning and Water Quality Management
- Learning about Standard and Transmission Based Precautions
- Gaining overview of hand hygiene- Five moments of hand hygiene
- Learning instrument reprocessing and sterilisation
