USI AND AVETMISS

USI stands for Unique Student Identifier. From 1 January 2015, each student will need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to obtain their Qualification or Statement of Attainment from their Registered Training Organisation, when studying Nationally Recognised Training in Australia..

If you are a new or continuing student undertaking nationally recognised training, you need a USI in order to receive your qualification or statement of attainment. It is quick and easy to create your own USI; the process should take 5-10 minutes. Visit the following website and follow the prompts:
https://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-usi

We are required to upload the USI data every February for the previous calendar year.As a result, it can take up to 14 months for your training records to appear on your USI transcript.

AVETMISS stands for the Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information Statistical Standard. It is a national data standard which ensures the consistency and accuracy of vocational education and training.

When you enrol, we direct you to a form that asks you some personal questions, and your reason for studying. This is the AVETMISS data.

We are required by law to collect this data, and share it with the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd.

The term ‘language, literacy and numeracy’ refers to five core skills; learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy. These five core skills have been identified by the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) as the essential skills for individuals to hold to participate effectively in society including the workplace and the education sector.

Learners are required to complete the LLN assessment if they do not have prior education equivalent to the AQF level they are enrolling in. For example- if the learner is enrolled in the BSB50120 Diploma of Business, the learner needs to complete LLN Assessment if they do not have prior education equivalent to AQF level 5. During the enrolment process, we will ask you few questions to determine if you need to complete the LLN assessment and if required, we will send you the online link to complete the LLN assessment

We set you up to have a second attempt, if you were unsuccessful in the second attempt, we will set up the meeting with you to discuss the gaps you have and what kind of support you would require. There are range of support available to meet your learning requirements.

You can complete your enrolment via the Right Choice Training website by clicking into the selected course and pressing “Enrol NOW” to proceed or complete an enrolment form. Once your form is submitted, we will send you acknowledgment email confirming your enrolment and next step.

Upon receiving your enrolment application, we will review your personal details and will ask to you to complete mandatory data and pre-training review questionnaires to understand your learning style, learning needs and support we can provide. Once it is completed, we will create your online learning account.  This process is generally completed within 24-48 hours.  Once the process is complete, you should able to start your learning right away. Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is an assessment process that involves assessment of an
individual’s relevant prior learning (including formal, informal and non-formal learning) to
determine the credit outcomes of an individual application for credit as defined by the
Australian Qualification Framework council.
For more information, please follow the prompts:

https://www.aqf.edu.au/sites/aqf/files/rpl-explanation.pdf

While enrolment stage, you can indicate about your intention to apply for RPL. While reviewing your enrolment process, one of our friendly staff will contact you to complete the process. Alternatively, we would recommend you email us your training certifications, current job descriptions and resume through for review; we will then arrange a time to discuss your training needs and RPL opportunities with one of our assessors over the phone..

If an RPL opportunity is determined, we will develop a training plan to outline details of your training structure. Your trainer will guide you through this process.

If you have completed previous study that includes units in your Qualification, we may be able to automatically give you credit for those units.

You must provide us with a certified copy of the certificate containing those units.

Where evidence can be provided, we may be able to grant credit for some units of the course.

No - these are different terms, although they are often confused.

Credit Transfer is the term we use when you already hold a specific unit of competency. We can use your existing certificate to give you credit towards your Qualification.

RPL is the term we use when you wish to use your work experience as an assessment only pathway to the qualification. You need to provides samples of work, references, etc in order to demonstrate competency through real life experience.

Self-learning activities are structured activities for learners to understand and apply their learnings to the different situations. Activities are designed to enhance learners’ knowledge and skills before they proceed to their assessment tasks.

Self- learning activities are not part of assessment but learners are required to complete these activities before proceeding to the assessment tasks.
