USI AND AVETMISS
USI stands for Unique Student Identifier. From 1 January 2015, each student will need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to obtain their Qualification or Statement of Attainment from their Registered Training Organisation, when studying Nationally Recognised Training in Australia..
If you are a new or continuing student undertaking nationally recognised training, you need
a USI in order to receive your qualification or statement of attainment. It is quick and easy
to create your own USI; the process should take 5-10 minutes. Visit the following website
and follow the prompts:
https://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-usi
We are required to upload the USI data every February for the previous calendar year.As a result, it can take up to 14 months for your training records to appear on your USI transcript.
AVETMISS stands for the Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information Statistical Standard. It is a national data standard which ensures the consistency and accuracy of vocational education and training.
When you enrol, we direct you to a form that asks you some personal questions, and your reason for studying. This is the AVETMISS data.
We are required by law to collect this data, and share it with the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) AND CREDIT TRANSFER
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that involves evaluating an individual’s relevant prior learning, including formal, informal, and non-formal learning. This process is used to determine credit outcomes for an individual application, as defined by the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Council.
During the enrolment stage, you can indicate your intention to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in your Pre-Training Review Form. When we review your Pre-Training Review Form and finalise your enrolment, one of our friendly staff members will contact you to initiate the RPL process.
If you are deemed eligible for RPL, we will develop a training plan outlining the structure of your assessment and learning pathway. Your trainer will guide you through each step of this process.
If you have completed previous study that includes units in your Qualification, we may be
able to automatically give you credit for those units.
You must provide us with a certified copy of the certificate containing those units.
Where evidence can be provided, we may be able to grant credit for some units of the
course.
