BAS Agent Registration Skill Set Course The BAS Agent Registration Skill Set is a nationally recognised skill set for individuals who wish to work as registered BAS agents. This skill set is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to manage business activity statements (BAS) and other tax compliance obligations on behalf of their clients.Upon completion of the course, students will need to apply to the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) for registration as a BAS agent. Once registered, BAS agents can provide BAS services. This course meets the education requirements of the Tax Practitioners Board for becoming a BAS Agent as a Tax Practitioners Board Approved course.
*If you don’t have any Accounting qualification, you’ll need to complete the Cert IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping, which includes the BAS agent units

BAS Agent Registration Skill Set Course Overview
The BAS Agent Registration Skill Set FNSSS00004 is designed for those who are seeking registration as a business activity statement (BAS) agent with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB).
To become a registered BAS agent, you must satisfy the relevant qualifications and experience requirements that are set out in the Tax Agent Services Regulations 2009 (TASR). Successful completion of this course meets the requirement for a Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) approved course in basic GST/BAS principles.
About the BAS Agent Registration Skill Set:
The BAS Agent Registration Skill Set (FNSSS00004) is made up of two units:
- FNSTPB411- Complete business activity and instalment activity statements
- FNSTPB412- Establish and maintain payroll systems
Qualification pathways
This short course has national recognition. We recommend you progress into the FNS40222 Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping if you have not completed an Accounting qualification. BAS agent registration will be the next step through the Tax Practitioner Board once you complete the BAS units..
Course Requirements
This is an open entry course with no pre-requisite qualifications. To ensure you complete the course successfully, the following entry requirements apply:
Participants must:
- Be aged 18 years or over
- Have recent minimum two years of industry experience
- Have sound language and literacy skills (at least Year 10 English, or equivalent)
- Able to commit to the course duration and time commitment
- Learners must have access to a computer and the internet
- Must supply a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
- Have a valid email account and a telephone with a valid telephone number for learning and assessment communication, support session
